This is a workshop for anyone that wants to try their hand at creating comics! Whether you are an experienced artist or are just picking up a pencil for the first time, if you want to get into comic-making, this workshop is for you!
Each person will come out of this workshop with one completed comic book of their own creation. Students will learn comic-drawing techniques and theory together as a group, but every individual comic book will be different based on what type of project each artist wants to complete!
Students will learn how to draft and complete projects, how to print and bind books, how to format panels and pages to create different moods, and many more comics-drawing skills and techniques.
In this workshop, you will have complete control over your particular comic book whether it be light-hearted gag-a-day comic strips, personal tales from your past, an adventure story, or a zine about social issues. This workshop will help you up your comics game regardless of your level of comic experience by targeting the personal comic-writing goals of each student.

Payton Surette loves comics, sailing, and eating fruit. He is currently living in Montreal to work on graphic novels and webcomics. He has years of experience with Photoshop and other programs in the Adobe Suite, but loves using traditional cartooning methods when doing his work. His favourite drawing tool is the old fashioned dip pen and ink, but he also uses pens, pencils, and watercolours. Outside of drawing, he likes building and fixing things and hanging out on roofs.
