Increase your confidence, technique and vocal expression. In this four-week workshop you will learn to unleash your inner singer. Whether you are a true beginner or seasoned professional, award-winning recording artist Athena Reich will guide you through exercises developed to help you release your inhibitions, acquire solid breathing and mouth placement technique, and inspire you to full energetic vocal expression in the genre of your choice.
Teacher Bio
Athena Reich is an award-winning singer-songwriter, actress and Lady Gaga impersonator. Chatelaine calls her the “World’s Top Lady Gaga Impersonator.” Her original music videos charted #1 on MTV LOGO and her song “Love is Love” won Best Pop Song at the Outmusic Awards. Nominations include Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Humanitarian Songwriter of the Year. She has toured across North America and Europe and shared the stage with Sarah McLachlan, Jim Carrey and Janeane Garofalo. Athena has 5 albums and 3 dance EPs under her belt, and her lyrics are on display at the International Museum for Peace and Solidarity in Uzbekistan. She was commissioned to write poetry for the New York Aquarium by the Wildlife Conservation Society, and her music has also been accepted into the New York Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Centre. She holds a BFA in Music from Concordia University, and deepened her craft through master classes at the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York.

Workshop Breakdown
Week 1: Breath, Tone & Guts. Learn diaphragmatic breathing, vocal placement and inspire each other with courage.
Week 2: Vocal Warm-Ups. Learn vocal warm-ups to get the blood flowing and lubricate our singing systems.
Week 3: How To Learn a Song. Discover various ways of learning the melody and meaning of a song, through practical tricks to approaching notes and range.
Week 4: Performance. In this final class we will perform for each other and receive supportive, quality, in-depth feedback from the instructor and peers, including practical techniques to continue improving upon our techniques and artistic expressions.
*In each class, participants will have the opportunity to perform a song of their choosing and receive quality feedback from the instructor and their peers.
